Background/History: Kagome was a normal Junior-High girl with normal Junior-High concerns. She had a close circle of friends and a loving family. Everything changed when she discovered that an old well on the grounds of the Shinto Temple her family lived in was much more than an old relic. Finding herself trapped in Japan's Feudal Era during the Warring States period Kagome discovered she was the reincarnation of a powerful priestess that had died centuries before she had been born but had only been laid to rest 50 years earlier in the era she was now in. Even stranger, Kagome learned that she literally held the power of the mystical Shikon Jewel inside herself. The gem burst from her side and was accidentally shattered when it was set upon by a variety of demons including the Half-Blood Inuyasha, the same Demon boy that had fallen in love with the Priestess 50 years earlier.

Remarkably, she has adjusted to all of this pretty well. She has figured out how to travel back and forth between her time and the feudal era and now splits her time between the two. Kagome desperately tries to keep her grades up while still spending as much time in the past as possible. She and Inuyasha are now the core of a small band of heroes who seek to gather the scattered shards of the Shikon Jewel before they can be claimed by the Demon Neraku, the creature that used deception and manipulation to turn Kikyou and Inuyasha against each other 50 years earlier and has since left a trail of dead bodies and shattered lives behind him.

Personality/Motivation: Kagome is at heart she is a fundamentally decent and compassionate and young woman. Kagome is also the only one headstrong enough to dress down Inuyasha when he is at his most belligerent. As the emotional core of the group, she is a best friend and mother to the rest of her friends. She does her best to do the right thing and generally expects everyone she considers a friend to do the same. When this combines with her mile-wide stubborn streak she often veers the group away from their quest if she feels that someone needs help. Particularly vile acts make her blood boil and are one of the few things that will cause her to attack a living thing. This is sometimes disconcerting to her allies from the Warring States Era as they do not always share her sense of morality and 21st century social norms.

Kagome struggles with her feelings for Inuyasha. She has admitted to herself that she loves him deeply, and suspects he may return the feeling, but is painfully aware of his feelings for Kikyo.

Quote: "Sit boy!"

"Wow, things really are different in the Feudal Era."

Powers/Tactics: Physically Kagome is a normal girl from the early 21st Century; her powers come from her immensely powerful soul.

As the reincarnation of Kikyou, she has inherited many of the Temple Maiden's spiritual abilities. She has never studied the disciplines that would allow her to fully utilize this potential magically, but is able to intuitively sense magical effects. She has also become increasingly adept at focusing this power through archery. Early on this was uncontrolled and erratic but Kagome is now proficient enough to call on these powers at will. Kagome still cannot match Kikyo in power or control but she can dispel magical effects or obliterate powerful demons with a single arrow.

Even with her Arrows, Kagome is not much of a fighter and she knows it. She will often hang back from combat attempting to avoid notice, or will guard any noncombatants to the best of her ability.

The intertwining destinies of Kikyo and the Shikkon Jewel have left Kagome with the power to sense the presence of Jewel shards from miles away. If she can get close enough she can actually see embedded shards inside an opponent.

Appearance: Kagome is your basic long-haired Anime school girl. Her standard clothing is her green sailor-suit school uniform, but she wears a variety of sweaters and skirts from episode to episode. Although other characters on the show do comment on her beauty, Kagome does not seem to draw as much attention as the other women in the show.

Designer's Notes: As a combatant, Kagome is an eggshell with a hammer. This is intentional as in the Anime she avoids all combat and is generally pretty vulnerable right up until her amazing soul powers save the day.

Her ability to travel through time is a function of the Shikon Jewel and the well and as such does not appear on her character sheet.
