Description: The Mining (or Burrowing) People are short, normally standing no more than 5 feet in height, with broad, well-muscled builds. They tend to be grayish in color, with thick reddish, grayish, brownish, or black hair. As their name suggests, they tend to dwell underground, in vast cave and hand-dug tunnel systems. Slow, but powerful, they’re rarely seen in the Well, as they tend to dwell in the Foothills and Uplands, with scattered settlements in the Forest.

Mining People tend to dress in fully-covering clothing, to counteract the chill of their subterranean tunnels. They normally carry well-crafted tools and weapons when on the surface and metal goods of Mining People make are highly-prized in many parts of the Well.

The Mining People are a insular and secretive race, mainly because of their knowledge of metalworking. Their homes tend to double as mines, and they trade raw ore and finished metal goods for foodstuffs, clothing, leather goods, and the like. Entry to their mines is rarely granted, so traders must do with the surface dwellings the Mining People erect around the entrances to their mines.

This character sheet represents an average Mining Person warrior. Non-warriors, as well as younger (and older) Mining People will have slightly lower Characteristic and different Skills.
