SILENT MOBIUS ZETA

GRIMORE

This section attempts to list and describe all the spells and spell-like effects seen in the pages of the Silent Möbius manga. Most powers demonstrated by Lucifer Folk are not listed, as these seem to be 'innate' powers as opposed to actual castable spells. Each spell will have the following items of information:

Page Number: The page number the spell appears on. This number will be the page number of the Japanese volume (or Side). If there is a Viz-translated trade paperback that also shows the spell, then that page number will be given in parentheses.

Who: The person casting the spell.

Spell Name: The name of the spell as given in Silent Möbius. If none is given, the name might be that of the spells most obvious feature (for example, if the spell is clearly a barrier, then the spell name will be "Barrier Spell"). If there is no given name and the spell's purpose is unknown, then the name will be listed as "Unknown".

Incantations: Incantations given while casting the spell. In general, these will be taken from various sources, not just the Viz-translated version.

Description: What the spell is seen to do in the pages of the manga. Naturally, some of this will be guess work. In general, I will describe exactly what is shown.

Game Effects: An attempt to define the spell and it effects using the HERO System. Some spells will get actually write ups, others will only be guessed at and given suggestions. Due to the nature of the manga, very few spells will be fully written up. Any spells that are written up will usually use a base of 60 active points.

SIDE 4: EMERGENCY

Page Number: 25
Who: Mana Isozaki
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: None
Description: Mana unleashes a burst of... something in the panel. It could be light, or it could be a blast of wind. It might be both. The attack looks to blind or disorient two men harassing her.
Game Effects: Hard to say, as it is unclear what exactly Mana is casting. Odds are it's a Flash attack.

Page Number: 28
Who: Mana Isozaki
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: None
Description:
Mana turns, confronts a large, slug-like Lucifer Folk and promptly blows it into bloody goop..
Game Effects: Based on how the Lucifer Folk virtually explodes, it seems safe to say that the spell is a Ranged Killing Attack. There looks to be a large flash of light as the spell goes off; the spell might be light-based, or fire, or generic 'mystical energy'. It should be noted that Mana seems to have a number of these spells. The more powerful each one is, the longer it takes for her to cast one.

Page Number: 37
Who: Katsumi Liqueur
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: Vargo do... (The rest is cut off)
Description:
Unknown, as Katsumi doesn't get to finish this spell..
Game Effects: Unknown, as Katsumi doesn't get to finish this spell. It should be pointed out that Katsumi appears to be gesturing while casting this spell.

Page Number: 39
Who: Katsumi Liqueur
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: None
Description:
Having been enveloped by a Lucifer Folk, Katsumi blasts herself free..
Game Effects: Since the Lucifer Folk portions that are trapping her are reduced to pulp, it seems pretty obvious that Katsumi has cast some sort of Killing Attack. It might be "One Hex Area" (+1/2), and it probably has "Personal Immunity" (+1/4), as Katsumi is unharmed (her clothing isn't even mussed) by the spell.

Page Number: 40-41
Who: Katsumi Liqueur
Spell Name: Silver Sparrows
Incantations: Holy Spirit Zazel!! The Holy Spirit of Saturn!! Show the powers of evil with your brightness!! From the darkness and ashes, rise!! Silver Sparrow!!
Description:
Katsumi rattles of a rapid series of incantations and extends her right hand in front of her. A large white square appears and a swarm of silver birds spring forth. Meanwhile, a Lucifer Folk is firing a large energy blast from its mouth. Based on Katsumi's comment from Page 44; "Must feel nice to be hit by your own powers.", it seems that the Lucifer Folk's blast is caught by the sparrows and pushed back the way it came.
Game Effects: Based on Katsumi's comment from page 44, this would seem to be a form of Missile Reflection. The spell has "Incantations" (-1/2) and "Gestures" (-1/2) as limitations.

Page Number: 51
Who: Nami Yamigumo
Spell Name: Force Field and/or Maze
Incantations: None
Description:
A Lucifer Folk is trapped in an alley by Nami's ofuda. Although nothing is shown clearly, he states: "A force field and a maze built by the talisman...". This seems to indicated that Nami has used her ofuda to place a barrier across the alley.
Game Effects: As has been mentioned before, Nami can use her ofuda to create Force Walls. See Grimore Volume 01 for more information.

Page Number: 53
Who: Nami Yamigumo
Spell Name: None
Incantations: None
Description:
Nami is hit by an energy blast that destroys her AMP cloak. Her Shinto priestess robes are unharmed however. The Lucifer Folk than takes a closer 'look' revealing the her robes are covered with writing..
Game Effects: The is Armor bought with he limitation of "Inobvious Inaccessible Focus: Robes" (-1/4). It is highly likely that the robes can only defend Nami from mystical forces.

Page Number: 56
Who: Katsumi Liqueur
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: Unknown
Description:
A Lucifer Folk threatening Nami is hit by a sudden surge of energy that begins to melt the Lucifer Folk.
Game Effects: The attack (a spell cast by Katsumi) looks to be a massive Energy Blast. It might be "Indirect" (+1/4 minimum) as it looks to come up from the target's feet.

Page Number: 68
Who: Nana Yamigumo
Spell Name: The White Tiger Sword (aka The Sword of the White Tiger)
Incantations: None
Description:
The White Tiger Sword is a really long, thin-bladed sword. Although Nana only gives it to Nami in this scene, we get to see it used later. This is also the same sword that Razan Yamigumo uses in Volume 00. See the Grimore for Volume 00 for more information about this weapon..
Game Effects: See below or Volume 00 Grimore.

Page Number: 95-97
Who: Mana Isozaki
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: On Amiritei Unhatsuta On Amiritei Unhatsuta On Kirikiri On Kirikiri
Description:
Mana tells Katsumi "I'll show you... My powers." At this point she clasps her hands together, closes her eyes and starts to chant. Katsumi comments on the rise in 'chi' (ie. magical energy). Mana than hurls a sphere of energy at her target, shattering a containment field erected by Lebia a moment before..
Game Effects: Mana's energy sphere is either an Energy Blast or an Ranged Killing Attack. To take out Lebia's 'containment field' (a from of Force Wall), it is probably an "Armor Piercing" (+1/2) attack. Due to her closing her eyes and chanting, the has such limitations as "Incantations" (-1/2), "Extra Time: Phase" (-1/2) and possibly "Concentrate" (-1/4).

Page Number: 98-99
Who: Mana Isozaki
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: Noumakusa umantabasa randansen... Untara Takanman!!
Description:
Chanting, Mana brings her hands together in front of her chest and summons a ball of energy. She then pushes out with her hands and projects a bolt of energy that tears into a Lucifer Folk..
Game Effects: This is almost certainly another Ranged Killing Attack. It takes little time, so it probably doesn't have any advantages added to it. If it does, "Penetrating" (+1/2) seems likely, as well as "+1 STUN" (+1/2).

Page Number: 100-101
Who: Mana Isozaki
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: Un Ken Sowaka
Description:
Mana thrusts out with both hands, vaporizing a target Lucifer Folk. There is a big back blast of smoke and wind. This spell annihilates the Lucifer Folk utterly, leaving Nami (who was the captive of the Lucifer Folk) unharmed floating in the air..
Game Effects: This is yet another Ranged Killing Attack. It is possible that Mana has just one RKA with"Variable Advantage", or a Multipower of RKAs, each with a different advantage added. If so, then she probably has a single slot with just a 'pure' RKA bought to maximum value. At the very least, all the slots in such a Multipower would require "Incantations" (-1/2) and "Gestures" (-1/2) as limitations. As for Nami's being unharmed? Well, Mana's spells may only work vs Lucifer Folk (except that she wouldn't have been able to bring down the containment field then) or Mana wasn't aiming at Nami and thus didn't affect her. The floating part may just be special effects.

Page Number: 104-105
Who: Mana Isozaki
Spell Name: Unknown
Incantations: Namusarababo dadaramasorogihiya Namuariyabarakite ishiharaya Bodaisatsutahaya Namubasarahaniya On Amiritei Unhatsura Bodaisatsuta hayatachitato hihihikaya Tohiharazi yaharani Sowaka On Kiri kiri On Kiri kiri
Description:
Mana is going to heal and 'purify' Nami after she was partially absorbed by a Lucifer Folk. She chants and gestures over Nami's prone body, drawing forth a large about of black 'energy'. She then closes her hands around this dark sphere, dispelling the energy.
Game Effects: Mana states that "The part of the Lucifer Folk that adapted to her must be purified". This sounds like a Transformation Attack (Adapted Human to Normal Human), but is probably better represented by a Healing Aid. It is "No Range" (-1/2), and requires "Extra Time: Phase (-1/2) (or more), "Concentration" (-1/2) and "Incantations" (-1/2)

Page Number: 107
Who: Nami Yamigumo
Spell Name: The Sword of the White Tiger
Incantations: None
Description:
Nami cuts a Lucifer Folk in half with her new sword..
Game Effects: As stated, the Sword of the White Tiger is a 2d6 (or better) Hand Killing Attack with the "Penetrating" (+1/2) advantage.
