Background/History: No one is exactly sure as to the origin of the Child of the Wasps. One was reported by a team of paranormal researchers investigating strange goings on in a mysteriously abandoned town. After the initial encounter, which was described as one of the most frightening experiences several of the researchers ever had, the Child was incinerated. All involved have stated they vehemently hope to never encounter something like that ever again.

Personality/Motivation: The Child of the Wasps seems, for the most part, to act like a fairly normal child. She will play games, read books, eat, and sleep, all like a normal child would. Of course, in her case, she was doing all of this in an abandoned town, never seeming to notice her surroundings. She is also very quiet, and never shows much emotion or makes much noise. She will also actively encourage others to do the same.

Quote: "Shhh, loud noises make them angry."

Powers/Tactics: The Child of the Wasps has no real powers of her own, aside from being an undead corpse, and thus very hard to injure or harm. If disturbed or in the presence of loud noises (shouts, gunshots, an argument), large numbers of angry wasps or hornets will issue from her mouth and nose, gathering into a massive swarm that will then attack anyone in the local area. Once the wasp swarm has formed, the Child will collapse, getting up once the wasps have returned.

Appearance: The Child of the Wasps appears a fairly normal eight-year-old child (of any race or nationality you need). Her clothing is worn-looking, while the Child herself often looks a bit thin and in need of a hot bath. If all is quiet a faint buzzing can be heard when she is around, and when she speaks her words have a faint buzzing quality to them. If the Child is ever destroyed, her skull will be found to be hollow and filled with a wasp's nest.

Designer's Notes: The Child of the Wasps was inspired by this post on the HERO Message Boards. I took the idea an sort of ran with it, building a undead little girl with a nest of killer wasps inside of her skull. Game Masters may wish to add the Trigger Advantage to her Summon power, with the Trigger being loud noises and the like. The sight of the wasps issuing from the Child's face should be worth around +4d6 of PRE attack, since it is something totally unexpected. I built the swarm as Slavishly Loyal, as the wasps will attack anything or anyone threatening the Child, without her needing to do or say anything.

The Child was built using the Small Child character sheet in HERO System 5th Edition, Revised with some material added from the Undead Template in the HERO System Bestiary. I didn't make her an Automaton so that she could interact with PCs on a more "believable" level.
