Background/History: The god of storms, darkness, and destruction (honest!), Susano Orbatos has been banished to Earth by his mother, Amaterasu, after getting into one to many fights with Songoku, the Monkey King. Stripped of a significant portion of his power, Susano has been told he will not be allowed to return until he learns to control his rather unpredictable temper. Naturally, this has left the one-time god in a less than pleasant mood.
Now, he lives in a small townhouse with a young computer tech, who spends most of his time wondering why he was chosen for the dubious honor of watching after Susano. Amaterasu, taking pity on the young man, has given him the blessing of Heaven, in the form of 5d6 of Luck. Amaterasu has also granted him fluency in the Japanese language, the better to understand Susano when he gets angry or irritated (which is often...).
Personality/Motivation: Wild, violent, and a bit of an upstart, Susano is probably not what most people would expect a god to be like. His primary hobby seems to be engaging in knockdown drag-out fights. He combats supervillains and their ilk mainly because playing the part of the "good guy" means he can get away with this sort of thing with out getting locked up. Of course, it doesn't hurt Amaterasu told him to be a "good boy" while on Earth, either. On the other hand, following the wishes of his mother only takes him so far, and Susano can easily be goaded into a fight by taunting him or insulting his claims of divine heritage. Susano also thinks that he’s better than anyone else with divine ancestry or a claim thereof (Amaterasu despairs of him ever learning humility), and will go to great lengths to prove he’s the better divine being.
Quote: "Does this planet have a never-ending supply of weird stuff?!!"
Powers/Tactics: Susano is a front line fighter, ready to jump right in the middle of any brawl. He usually forms his vajra into its staff form and begins pounding the nearest opponent, moving on to his next target once the first one has fallen. If faced by a large or heavily armored target, he'll use the sword. If under fire from ranged attacks, he'll use the fan to defend himself, before closing to hand-to-hand range. His storm-related powers are usually used as a warm of to any fight. A few lightning bolts dropepd from the sky does wonders to soften up any opposition. He’ll also summon storms if he really wants to impress and intimidate his foes. Occasionally, he'll hold back on using his full power and show a little restraint (explaining that he must live up to his reputation in the myths). The term "loose cannon" goes a long way in describing Susano.
Appearance: Susano stands a little over six feet in height, with long, unkempt white hair which falls almost to his waist. He dresses in loose black trousers and a blousy white shirt. Over this he wears a heavy red jacket belted with a gold sash. A brass breastplate, vambraces, greaves and sabatons completes his outfit. On his head he wears what looks to be a World War I leather flight helmet, complete with goggles. On the front of this helmet are kanji characters representing his name.
The vajra is a heavy iron shaft with a circular arraignment of three prongs on either end. Susano is capable of forming it into a heavy broad-bladed sword, a studded club similar to a tetsubo, or a wide fan which can deflect (absorb) just about any force directed against it.
Comments: Hmmm... I really wish I could remember what possessed me to write this guy up. I do know one of the local crew started a (short-lived) superhero game and somehow the idea I play my on-line persona (of Susano Orbatos, the god of storms from Masamune's Shirow's Orion) was suggested. Naturally I couldn't pass such an opportunity up. Susano only saw play for a short time, but managed to get himself into a mess of trouble while active. He was also a blast to play, since I could ham it up constantly and still be totally in character. Somehow I don't think he would have stuck around long though... ^_^.
