Background/History: A-ko is the primary star of the movie Project: A-ko , a hilarious romp that parodies Western comics, Hong Kong kung fu movies, and anime in general (for example, the title is taken from Jackie Chan's Project: A). One of the more popular anime films to hit America, Project A-ko spawned 3 sequels, as well as a 2-part independent mini-series (Versus Battle). A-ko, and her arch nemesis B-ko, are perfect for Champions conversion, having the sort of powers one usually finds in American comics. Just be careful about introducing either of these characters into your campaign, since the two of them can quite easily level a city (unintentionally, of course). I based my conversions upon the material presented in the first movie, as well as background material found in Project A-ko: The Role Playing Game.
The daughter of Superman and Wonder Woman, A-ko is a superstrong, superfast, 16 year-old high school girl who is only trying to live a normal life. This desire is complicated by the fact her best friend is one Shiko (C-ko) Kotobuki. C-ko is short, cute, and insufferably irritating (well, at least to everyone else). C-ko contributes greatly to A-ko's troubles and is directly responsible for A-ko continuous arguments and fights with B-ko. It also doesn't help that C-ko has the Physical Limitation "Can't Cook" and yet proceeds to shower A-ko with 'gourmet lunches'. Is it any wonder that A-ko occasionally loses it? And when A-ko lets her temper get the better of her, the results are ... well... destructive, to say the least.
Personality/Motivation: Although A-ko tries to keep herself under control, she has been known to lose it at times. Such instances tend to result in significant amounts of property destruction. A-ko is also C-ko's self appointed guardian, which probably explains why C-ko has managed to reach age 16. C-ko herself is A-ko's best friend. C-ko is also the target of B-ko's 'affections' as well as the long lost (deep breath) Fourth Princess of the Fifth Queen of the Lepton Kingdom of Alpha Cygni. That, combined with C-ko's 'cooking' make A-ko's life interesting, to say the least.... Aside from C-ko, A-ko and B-ko are also in competition for the affections of Kei, an extremely handsome biker type. Of course, the fact that Kei fancies C-ko is totally lost on the duo.
Powers/Tactics: A-ko's powers are very basic. She is immensely strong, capable of wrecking power armor, robots, and tanks with her bare hands. Since she picked up and heaved a tank a fair distance, I determined a likely STR score based on the weight of a M-1 Abrams given in the Hero Almanac 2 article Send in the Marines. She's fast enough to out run cars and can leap incredible distances. Personally, I bailed on trying to figure out her trick of getting to an attacking space ship by leaping from incoming one missile to another.... (Acrobatics at -10 perhaps?) Although A-ko is highly resistant to normal damage, she is vulnerable to killing attacks (she was cut by a sword stroke).
A note on A-ko's running—traditionally, A-ko leaves a great deal of destruction in her wake when she starts hitting top speed. Collapsing walls, shredded pavement, and wrecked houses are all normal for her. While bought as a Minor Side Effect, it tends to be far more destructive than a -0 Limitation would indicate. Personally, I recommend using it for it's humor value.
One may note that A-ko has a distinct lack of skills. Well... she's only 16.
Appearance: A-ko stands 5' 4", with an athletic figure and thick red hair that falls past her shoulders. Typically, she is dressed in her school uniform, which is a white middy blouse with a sailor collar, red scarf, blue skirt, knee-high white socks, and black shoes. When not in school, she dresses like any other athletic 16 year old. At all times, she wears a pair of black forearm bracers.
If A-ko removes her arm bands (done once since they didn't go with her dress), her STR becomes, 'unreliable.' A-ko tends to destroy things accidentally, since she's now unable to fully control how much strength she's using to accomplish a task.
