ARMOR

Body Pressure Suit

Value: $12500Weight: 2.50kg
(Total: 139 Active Cost, 63 Real Cost) Armor (4 PD/4 ED) (12 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Mass 1/4 standard (1/4 mass; -1/4), Real Armor (-1/4) (Real Cost: 6) plus LS (Self-Contained Breathing), 1 Continuing Fuel Charge lasting 6 Hours (+0) (10 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 7) plus LS (Immunity All terrestrial poisons and chemical warfare agents; Immunity: All terrestrial diseases and biowarfare agents; Safe in Intense Cold; Safe in Intense Heat; Safe in Low Pressure/Vacuum) (26 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 17) plus Healing Life Support 6d6, Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger requires a Full Phase to reset; +1/4) (75 Active Points); 4 Charges (-1), OIF (-1/2), Self Only (-1/2) (Real Cost: 25) plus Radio Perception/Transmission (Radio Group), MegaScale (1" = 1 km; +1/4) (12 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Sense Affected As More Than One Sense hearing (-1/2) (Real Cost: 6) plus Sight Group Flash Defense (4 points) (4 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4) (Real Cost: 2)

Notes: The Body Pressure Suit is the preferred mode of dress for most space-side personnel trained in the use of vacuum gear. The suit is extremely light and comfortable, except for the life-support gear, which stows inside the helmet when the suit isn't in use.In a life-support emergency, or explosive decompression, the wearer of the BPS can 'suit up' almost immediately, and have six hours of life support available in seconds. The BPS is useful for short EVA's but it doesn't provide protection from hard radiation. For extended EVA's (greater than 5 hours) a hard suit with longer duration air tanks and better radiation shielding is recommended. The BPS also provides no protection against micro-meteors, and precious little defense against weapons.

EVA Suit

Value: $6000 Weight: 60.00kg
(Total: 75 Active Cost, 30 Real Cost) Armor (8 PD/8 ED) (24 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4), Mass 1/4 standard (-1/4) (Real Cost: 12) plus Physical Damage Reduction, Resistant, 50% (30 Active Points); Only Works Against micro-meteors Very Limited Type of Attack (-1), OIF (-1/2), BODY Only (-1/2) (Real Cost: 10) plus LS (Safe in High Radiation) (2 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 1) plus Flight 5", Position Shift, Costs END Only To Activate (+1/4) (19 Active Points); Fuel Dependent (fuel is Very Common; must refuel Once per 5 Minutes; -1 1/2), no Noncombat movement (-1/4) (Real Cost: 7)

Notes: The EVA suit is designed to be worn over the BPS, and provides everything the 'skinsuit' lacks for extended vacuum operations: 24 hours of life support (no extra point cost), shielding against radiation and micro-meteorites, and a thruster pack with almost a full kps of delta-vee. (Fueled by meta-stable He-IV, capable of five minutes at maximum burn.)

Light Body Armor

Value: $2000 Weight: 3.50kg
(Total: 19 Active Cost, 9 Real Cost) Armor (5 PD/5 ED), Hardened (+1/4) (19 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4), Mass one-quarter mass (-1/4) (Real Cost: 9)

Notes: Light body armor is designed to stop pistol rounds, and combined with a body pressure suit, it's of some use against slightly heavier weapons. This armor is favored by security guards, rent-a-cops, and others who need to look well-protected, but don't really expect trouble. Usually constructed of a carbon-composite material, and reinforced with a surface layer of high-tech ceramics. Note that this write-up does not include any helmet features. The helmet may be fitted out with any number of sensory or communication devices not detailed here. Light body armor may be procured with the 'street level' equipment perk.

Combat Armor

Value: $8000 Weight: 20.00kg
(Total: 67 Active Cost, 38 Real Cost) Armor (10 PD/10 ED), Hardened (+1/4) (37 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4), Mass one-quarter mass (-1/4) (Real Cost: 18) plus Energy Damage Reduction, Resistant, 25% (15 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 10) plus Physical Damage Reduction, Resistant, 25% (15 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 10)

Notes: Combat armor is a heavier, bulkier version of light body armor, designed to stand up to medium weapons fire. It is constructed of a 'nanofactured' matrix of titanium alloys, reinforced by a surface layer of titanium-nitride for hardness. The version written up here includes only the armor, with no helmet features such as sensors or communications.

Battle Armor

Value: $16000 Weight: 100kg
(Total: 130 Active Cost, 80 Real Cost) Armor (14 PD/14 ED), Hardened (+1/4) (52 Active Points); OIF (-1/2), Real Armor (-1/4), Mass one-quarter mass (-1/4) (Real Cost: 26) plus Energy Damage Reduction, Resistant, 50% (30 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 20) plus Physical Damage Reduction, Resistant, 50% (30 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 20)
plus Density Increase (200 kg mass, +5 STR, +1 PD/ED, -1" KB), Inherent (+1/4), Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2), Persistent (+1/2) (11 Active Points); OIF (-1/2) (Real Cost: 7) plus Damage Resistance (1 PD/1 ED) (Real Cost: 1) plus Penalty Skill Levels: +3 vs. armor penalties to DCV with a single armor type (Custom Adder: usable by other (+1/4)) (Real Cost: 5)

Notes: Total DEF=15, hardened. Battle armor is an ultra-heavy power-assisted personal protection system. It is constructed of an advanced polymer composite reinforced throughout by a fullerene nano-tube matrix, and coated with an outer layer of beta carbon-nitride. An armature of servos controlled by negative-feedback circuitry negate most of the effort required to move in the armor. This write up, like the others above, includes no helmet options, of which there are too many to list here. Access to battle armor requires the 'military equipment' perk.
