Background/History: Tovera's family moved to Angelus shortly after DemonFall. Her father, a construction worker, was enticed by the city's inducements for replenishing its decimated population and workforce. They moved into low-income housing, and it wasn't long before the usual cycle of crime and squalor manifested in the neighborhood.

Sadly, Luz's father died in an accident at the construction site. Her mother, thrust into the role of single parent, struggled to support the family and still raise her children. She was only partialy successful, as Luz' brother. Marco, was drawn into the gang life and ran away from home.

Luz survived her teenage years and, to everyone's surprise, applied to the Angelus Police Academy. She applied herself to her studies and joined the force.

Her career was moving along at a respectable pace, until the fateful day when her partner and she responded to an emergency call to an abandoned warehouse and discovered what looked like some sort of ritual. They called for XSWAT backup, but when they saw the young woman about to be sacrificed, they couldn't wait. The two officers entered the warhouse to announce themselves and a melee ensued. Tovera managed to reach the altar and was in the process of pulling the girl free when... something happened.

Next thing she knew, she woke up in the hospital with multiple lacerations on her chest and face. But the big shock came when she saw that her left arm, from just above her elbow down to her hand, had somehow transformed into what looked like living black stone. She was informed that the warehouse had exploded with no survivors beyond herself.

Luz was turned over to XSWAT for examination. After extensive studiy, the techs threw up their arms in surrender. They were able to determine most of the arm's capabilities and characteristics, but had no clue as to why it existed and where it had come from.

Tovera was given the "choice" or being reassigned to XSWAT. She made the move somewhat reluctantly, but familiarized herself with her new surroundings and duties quickly.

She is now a veteran officer, having gained the rank of Lieutenant, and is being eyed for a kick up the ladder to a more administrative position. She is currently between assignments and was tagged to lead a team of newbies on their trainng day when the assigned officer was called away on last-minute mission.
