SHADOWS ANGELUS II

CHRYSINE'S JOURNAL 6

Journal Entry Dated 04-03-23

“The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created—created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating.”

Is the future fixed? That is the question and it has been debated for as long as man has been able to conceive of the future and what it might bring. There are some who feel everything is predestined; that everything happens in accordance to some great plan; that everything is God’s (or Allah’s) will. There are others who feel we all have choices and our choices make a differences. No one is predestined to be “evil” (or “good”), we chose to be so.

By picking up the fragment of flect, I was pulled into a vision of what might be the future of Angelus. Or might be the future of a Angelus. Or might be a nightmarish reflection of Angelus as it is, or might be, or could have been. It is a city in ruins, blasted and burned, looking much like it must have after the battle against Gurzorath. The city looks empty, but is not. There is some thing there, something horrific, virtually indescribable, and it is hungry.

Is this the future the Yakuza want? I do not think so. There is no power, or money, in a devastated and ruined Angelus. There is no life in such as wasteland. But this might be Angelus’ possible future, if the experiments with the Destiny Engine are not stopped. What Oyabun Ryuzo desires and what he may get may be two different things. Unless, in his madness, he desires to bring Angelus down, to reduce it to ruins, and become Daimyo of a blasted waste. But is he really that insane? Or is there, as the saying goes, a method to his madness?

I do not know. All I do know is that I have said before—there will be no place for XSWAT in Ryuzo’s new world. He must be stopped before he warps Angelus into something unrecognizable.
