SHADOWS ANGELUS

CLASS 2 ENTITY

Comments: The following is an example of a standard Class 2 Entity, one of the various enemies the players faced in Shadows Angelus 1. Entities vary widely in ability and cunning—this example creature is rather simple and basic on purpose. Certain specific Entities have far more personality—some have even developed specific skills, such as the ability to wield magic or bend space and time. Some Entities hunt their own kind in a bizarre form of cannibalism. It wouldn’t be hard to customize this sample Entity for your own campaign, should you choose to use it—simply add some skills and Disadvantages to simulate the kind of Entity you wish to portray.

Class 2 Entity

Background/History: The Entities have little known about their history. What is known is that these creatures come from a place known only as the Black World. There, they serve a despotic ruler known as the King of Shadows. Not all Entities are wholly corrupted—there are a few who have interests in things other than devouring humans and torturing Earth’s reality to resemble their own hellish homeworld—but the vast majority of these creatures lives for nothing but destruction and ravenous gluttony.

Prior to the Van Goren Incident, Entities could only arrive on Earth via summoning—certain sorcerous rituals could bring these loathsome creatures across, usually to serve the summoner as a slave. Once a rift was opened onto Earth, the Entities came through in great numbers, and some still remain even after the Ordinus Seal was put into place.

Quote: (Wordless roar, a spine-chilling combination of the sound of a raging lion and the bellow of a bull elephant)

Powers/Tactics: Entities have a range of powers and abilities based on their individual classification. Class 2 Entities such as the one detailed here are powerful enough to lay waste to city blocks and generally require an entire XSWAT squad to destroy. Entities are uniformly difficult to harm with normal weaponry—energy-based attacks seem to have far greater effectiveness, and above all holy weapons will deal them grievous wounds. With effort, Entities can briefly transform into formless wraiths of black, tattered shadow, slipping through solid objects or disappearing only to pop out somewhere else. Entities are pack hunters by nature, patiently tracking prey until the time is right to leap out of ambush. Entities generally prefer to slay with their claws, but they can marshal eldritch energies into blasts of staggering power.

Appearance: Entities vary in appearance—they generally have uniform black, oily skin and a single baleful crimson eye. Spikes and claws form upon their twisted, unnatural limbs, and tentacles extrude from their hideous bodies seemingly at will.
