Background/History: Dr. Gero is the man responsible for the creation of a whole host of artificial humans. He is well known in the scientific community and Bulma comments on having heard of him. He worked at one point for the Red Ribbon army, creating artificial humans (such as Number 8) to be used as soldiers by the criminal organization.
After the destruction of the Red Ribbon army by Son Goku, Dr. Gero vowed revenge. Building artificial humans Numbers 16-19 and turning himself into a cyborg, Dr. Gero decided to personally eliminate Son Goku (and the rest of the Z fighters). The plan started out okay, with Number 19 fighting Goku and triggering Goku's heart condition. Gero's revenge plans were cut short however, when Vegita showed up and blasted Number 19 into dust. Escaping from the Z fighters, Gero then returned to his secret lab located in the mountains. There he made the fatal mistake of activating Number 17 and Number 18, as Number 17 decided he didn't like Gero's arrogant attitude and promptly killed him.
Personality/Motivation: Dr. Gero hates Son Goku with a passion. Gero has been plotting Goku's downfall since Goku wrecked the Red Ribbon army. He has perfected his cyborg creations and even rebuilt himself as a cyborg in order to defeat Goku. Gero is also very arrogant. He kills several people for no other reason than they were in his way, punches his hand through Yamcha, and blasts a whole section of the city to prove how powerful he is to Goku. He also rants and raves to Number 17 and Number 18 about how they must destroy Goku and the Z fighters (which is a fatal mistake on his part). Of course, Number 17 won't put up with Gero's antics and promptly blasts him onto pieces.
Powers/Tactics: As a power absorber cyborg, Dr. Gero (and Number 19) has some pretty distinctive powers. The cyborgs have no real energy of their own and drain others of their chi energy in order to power their own system. This draining effect can also be used to absorb incoming chi attacks, defending the cyborg from attackers.
If attacked with a chi blast, Dr. Gero will put out his hands and suck the energy blast up via receptors in his palms. In game mechanics terms, Dr. Gero then rolls his dice of Dispel. If successful, he then roll his Aid dice to see how much energy (END) he was able to absorb. This END goes into his END reserve. Dr. Gero can also transfer END directly, by grabbing an opponent. Once he has grabbed a target, he will drain off as much END as possible, pumping it directly into his own reserve.
On top of all this, Number 20 is also a brilliant scientist and responsible for the design and creation of 20 (or maybe more) cyborgs and androids.
Appearance: Dr. Gero is of average height, with a heavily lined face and a big bushy mane of white hair. He dresses in a rather archaic costume with a distinctly Russian look to it.
