For the record, I have never liked the "legs inside a costume" look so many artists give their mermaids (you know, the mermaids whose fishh body bends at the "knees"). Thus the more "snaky" look for this mermaid and the next one. Both mermaids also have horizontal fins/flukes as well, since I figure the swim in the same manner as a whale of dolphin. In fact, if I ever ran a fantasy setting with mermaids, their lower bodies wouldn't be scaled, but would be smooth, like a dolphin's.
