CANBERRA

Canberra is the capitol of Australia. This view, taken from Mt. Ainslie, shows the Australian War Memorial in the foreground, with Anzac Parade beyond, leading up to Lake Burley Griffin. On the other side of the lake is the New Parliment House (it's the building with the Y-shaped flag pole). The view is akin to standing at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. and looking up the Mall to Congress. Go to this picture to see the view from the other direction.

Like Washington D.C., Canberra is a planned city. Unlike Washington D.C. it seems to be better laid out, and is far easier to get around. It is also a lot cleaner.
