Background/History: Cid was always determined to go into space. It was his one overriding ambition in life. He joined Shinra's burgeoning space exploration department, worked his way to the position of pilot and eventually trained as an astronaut. Eventually, his chance arrived. Shinra prepared for the launch of their space exploration rocket, the Shinra no. 26, and Cid was the pilot. During the countdown, one of the technicians named Shera was found in the rocket, still fixing a faulty oxygen tank. She insisted that the launch continue, even though doing such would incinerate her, as the launch window would soon be gone. Torn by his desire to explore space, he shut down the countdown at the last instant. The launch aborted, the rocket listed, and the plan was abandoned.

A small town eventually grew up around the rocket, inhabited by old engineers, developers, crew and the like. Cid lived there with Shera, always repairing and maintaining the rocket, always hoping to some day get his funding back and fulfill his dream of exploring space. So when the new Shinra president Rufus visited town, cid had high hopes for his future. It wasn't to be; a fight broke out between Shinra executives and a group of travelers lead by Cloud Strife. This resulted in Cid's aircraft, the Tiny Bronco, taking off with Cloud's team and Cid aboard. The Tiny Bronco was shot down, and Cid brought it down in the ocean. His hopes shattered, Cid agreed to travel with Cloud and his team.

Personality/Motivation:
Cid is gruff, rude and always speaks his mind. He has few social graces, always swearing and telling people exactly what he thinks of them, which is very little. He still clings to the impossible hope of space exploration, and vents his anger on Shera for stopping the launch, and Shinra's head of space development Palmer for canning the project.

Tactics/Powers:
Cid is a self-taught combatant, handy with his home-made spear. When pressed, he launches himself into the air, bringing himself down on top of the opponent, impaling them on his spear.

Appearance:
Cid is a tall man with a weather-beaten face. He has short-cropped dirty-blond hair and blue eyes. He wears a pair of pilot's goggles on his brow, along with a blue jacket, khaki fatigue pants, leather gloves and boots. He always has a lit cigarette clamped between his teeth, regardless of the situation.
