Background:
As a child, Gau (not his real name) was abandoned on the savanna-like veldt of the south-eastern continent. He grew up amongst the many animals and monsters that inhabit the veldt, living as one of them and learning from them all. He even came across humans a few times; he had no truck with them, but learnt scraps of their language. From those encounters, a local legend began to spread of the "wild boy of the veldt."

Eventually, Sabin Figaro and Cyan Garamond came lost, tired and weary to the veldt. Gau found them unconscious as the base of a waterfall, yet quickly ran away as they revived. Through their next few encounters, the pair tried to befriend the wild boy. Fascinated by Cyan's uppity attitude and strange accent (and after running around calling him "Mr. Thou"), Gau joined them and lead them from the veldt.

Personality/Motivation:
Gau closely resembles the animals he grew up alongside. He is flighty and unpredictable; one minute a determined hunter, active and playful the next. He becomes very attached and loyal to his newfound friends. His main weakness is a penchant for "shiny things."

Tactics/Powers:
Gau has learnt how to mimic the attacks and abilities of his animal and monster brethren. By calling upon his knowledge of monsters, he throws himself into a kind of rage, savagely attacking his opponents with mimicked monster attacks. However, once he has set into a rage, it can be hard to draw him out unless he has friends there to help him.

Appearance:
Gau is a tall and wiry boy of only thirteen, although his bright eyes betray a wisdom beyond his years. Despite his frail appearance, he is exceptionally tough and resilient. He walks hunched over, sometimes even crawling on all fours. He is almost always filthy, and wears animal hides patched together into rough and loose clothing. He speaks in broken phrases, often punctuating his speech with various cries and calls of monsters.
