Satyxis

Ecology: An ancient race of proud warriors, the Satyxis were well know for their skill in battle and their codes of honor and tradition. However, hundreds of years ago, conflict between Toruk, the Father of Dragons, and another of his kind, rendering the Satyx homeland a ruin. The land was defiled by the blood and breath of the two dragons, eventually corrupting the Satyxis themselves. The men were warped into monstrous and unviable forms, while the women were rendered strong and powerful, albeit with their own mutations.

These days the Satyxis venture from their isle to raid and plunder towns and shipping up and down the coast. They are often found as in league with pirates, leading them into battle, while others serve as mercenaries, sharpening their skills in open warfare. Known as "battle-" or "reaver-witches" they are greatly feared.

Personality/Motivations: Typical sentient humanoid motivations. The Satyxis are always on the lookout for suitable males to extend their corrupted bloodline, and will seek to capture any male who seems to be physically suitable for their needs. Once they become pregnant, the Satyxis will leave to return to her home, to give birth. A male child will be sacrificed in a ritual intended to keep the Satyxis bloodline strong, while a female will be brought up to be warrior.

Powers/Tactics: Satyxis use the full range of tactics available to sentient humanoids. They are noted for being highly-skilled swordswomen and tend to arm themselves with longswords. Satyxis will also carry shorter parrying daggers (many learn WF: Off-hand and/or Two-Weapon Fighting) as well as flintlock or wheelock pistols. Firearms will be used first, usually as part of a devastating volley meant to clear inflict as many casualties as possible, before the Satyxis closes to hand-to-hand range. They will wear armor, usually of leather mixed with well-articulated plate, but due to their horns are unable to use any sort of helmet.

Appearance: Satyxis look like tall, attractive, elven or human females. They have pointed ears and tend to wear their dark hair long and unkempt. Their corrupted bloodline is obvious from their pale bluish-gray to purplish-gray skin and large horns set into their heads. Satyxis tend to wear dark colors and armor that is both suitable for their environment and doesn't restrict their movement to any great degree.

Designer's Notes: This character sheet represents a typical competent Satyxis the PCs might encounter in a situation where you need a character sheet (i.e., combat or the like). You can easily customize this character sheet by applying one of the templates found on pages 116-118 of Monsters, Minions, and Marauders, such as Chieftain or Fighter.

The Satyxis is found in the Monsternomicon V3.5, from Privateer Press. The Monsternomicon describes creatures from Privateer Press's Iron Kingdom's setting. This character sheet was developed based on material found on Killer Shrike's D&D 3e to HERO conversion webpage.
