Ecology: As a rule, the dregg despise everyone and everything. They dwell in great subterranean burrows and tunnel complexes, launching raids on the surrounding lands for food, supplies, slaves (which usually become food), and anything else of value they can get their clawed hands on. They have no known alliances with any other race, and seem to regard and and all non-dregg as their enemies.

Dregg can’t tolerate light, and becomes disoriented around strong lanterns and large bonfires. Their bodies will actually blister and burn if exposed to intense light such as sunlight. If out in the sun for too long, the dregg will collapse into a coma and remain there until sundown.

Personality/Motivations: Typical sentient humanoid motivations. As stated, the dregg seem to hate anyone not a dregg. They also seem to delight in pain and suffering, piercing their skin and bodies with rings, hooks, barbs, and chains. Some will go even so far as to fasten armor plates to their bodies using said rings.

Powers/Tactics: Dregg use the full range of tactics available to sentient humanoids. They are skilled warriors, one and all, and tend to use well-coordinated plans when setting up an ambush. Since they only strike at night, a band of dregg will normally wait until their target(s) are mostly asleep then unleash a volley of arrows, spears, and gunfire, before closing into hand-to-hand range.

In combat dregg are virtually fearless, feeding on their own pain to make them virtually unstoppable in battle.

Appearance: Dregg look like emaciated humanoids. Their skin is stretched so tight over their bodies their bones are clearly visible. They have vaguely vulture like heads, with mouths full of long teeth formed into almost a beak-like shape. Their legs digigrade and end in paw-like feet. Just about everything they wear has been looted from somewhere else, dregg apparently make virtually nothing themselves.

Designer's Notes: This character sheet represents a typical competent Dregg the PCs might encounter in a situation where you need a character sheet (i.e., combat or the like). You can easily customize this character sheet by applying one of the templates found on pages 116-118 of Monsters, Minions, and Marauders, such as Chieftain or Fighter.

As an option, GMs might want to give a dregg +2 with HTH with the same Limitations as its Delights In Physical Pain power.

The Dregg is found in the Monsternomicon V3.5, from Privateer Press. The Monsternomicon describes creatures from Privateer Press's Iron Kingdom's setting. This character sheet was developed based on material found on Killer Shrike's D&D 3e to HERO conversion webpage.
