Ecology: Mi-go are an alien race of fungus-like creatures who originally hail from beyond our solar system. They have a a large interstellar empire, comprised of a variety of interstellar bodies, a colony on Pluto (i.e. Yuggoth), and have mining colonies on Earth (the Himalayas and Vermont are two known locations). Their Earth-based mines supply them with certain rare metals not found on their home world.
It is stated the Mi-go are not wholly native to this universe. Thus, they cannot eat food from Earth, cannot be photographed with normal camera film (although it would be easy to create a special emulsion that would allow them to be photographed), have greenish liquid for blood, and dissolve shortly after death.
The Mi-go are associated with other alien races, such as Cthulhu, as well as the gods Nyarlathotep and Shub-Niggurath. Their true aims are unknown, and might be far more inimical to humanity than originally thought. The name "Mi-Go" itself comes from the area of the Himalayas, where these creatures are associated with the Abominable Snowman.
Personality/Motivation: In general, the Mi-go wish to be left alone. They do not want contact with humans, and will defend their mines and camps with force if needed. Intruders and trespassers will be eliminated. Any contact they do have with humans is to hire agents to work on their behalf.
Powers/Tactics: If forced to fight, the Mi-go have access to a number of advanced weapons. Their electrical gun is a small fist-sized device capable of projecting a bolt of electricity. The bolt will burn a target and interfer with the target's reflexes. The mist projector releases a cloud of frigid gas that will quickly freeze (and kill) most living things. Game Masters way want to make the mist projector some sort of AVLD or NND with the "Does BODY" (+1) Advantage. Warm clothing and the like can defend against the mist projector. Bio-armor is an organic "armor" the Mi-go use. Humans can use it, but it is fairly sticky and will do a point of BODY each time it is used due to difficulties in getting it on and taking it off. The armor will also loose a point of DEF as well, unless immersed in the proper nutrient bath.
The Mi-Go are great surgeons and have access to highly advanced technology. They are capable of removing a human's brain, placing it in a container and keeping the brain alive almost indefinitely. Devices can be attached to allow the brain audio and visual input, as well as speech. Thus, the brain can be hauled about to various locations with ease, allowing the human to experience sights far beyond his imagining.
Appearance: A Mi-go is an approximately man-sized fungoid creature resembling a winged "crab." It has six legs ending in claws or nippers, four wings, and a spherical head covered with short growths. These creatures are a vague pinkish color.
Designer's Notes: The Mi-go are from the Cthulhu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft. This design was based upon the Mi-go presented in the 5th Edition of Call of Cthulhu. For a further understanding of the Mi-go and their activities, read the H. P. Lovecraft story The Whisper in the Darkness.
