Ecology: Ghouls live near humans, usually dwelling in tunnels under the cities. They will burrow into graveyards, eating any fresh (and not so fresh) corpses they encounter. Ghoul will also attack and eat humans, although they have been know to associate with witches and magicians. Evidence seems to indicated that someone can become a ghoul, transforming into one over an extended period of time. Ghouls are also said to inhabit the Dreamlands and are the mortal enemies of the Gugs that dwell there.
Personality/Motivation: Ghouls are usually interested only in a food and being left alone. They will kill (and eat) those that disturb them or their burrows. They tend to treat humans with contempt, and usually look upon them as simply food items.
Powers/Tactics: Ghouls are strong, powerful and hard to hurt with conventional firearms. In combat, they strike with their clawed hands. Once they get in close, they will bite their target, worrying their victim to death (literally). Some ghouls are said to be able to cast spells.
Appearance: A ghoul is a rubbery-looking humanoid with canine features and hoofed feet. They have claws, powerful jaws and are often encrusted with dirt and grave mold. Their language is described as "meeping."
Designer's Notes: A Lovecraftian ghoul is very different from the Arabic ghoul and bears almost no resemblance to a AD&D ghoul. This design was based upon the ghoul presented in the 5th Edition of Call of Cthulhu.
