Background/History: Dr. McNinja is a doctor who is also a Ninja. In fact, he comes from a long family line of Ninja. The family tradition started long ago in the old country of Ireland when a vicious band of pirates decided to raid a poor shore village in the winter. The villagers would have been slaughtered, but one of them noticed that in the winter chill, the shamrocks had frozen and achieved quite an edge. Once the villagers saw their neighbor throw a clover shuriken-style into a pirate's throat, they likewise took up shamrocks against the invaders and forced the pirates' retreat. At this point, a black-clad stranger announced himself, and said: "I am a ninja. I watched the battle, and am most impressed with how you dispatched the pirates. You see, pirates are the ninja's ancient enemy. It is clear that you have the ninja in you. And I can train you to unleash it."

Except that no one could understand him, because he was speaking in Japanese. But eventually they got the gist of it. The villagers trained in the hidden art of Ninjutsu, and their Irish-American descendants in the McNinja family continue to celebrate their tradition every year on the holiday of Katanakka.

Dr. McNinja himself did receive the family's martial arts training, but he was also of a scientific mindset and decided to pursue a career as a physician after studying in college under the clone of Ben Franklin. (Dr. McNinja also claims to have studied crimefighting under Batman, which has not been independently verified.) His first recorded adventure was a conflict with the McDonald's corporation over their unflattering use of a "McNinja Burger" trademark. After facing down Ronald McDonald himself in single combat, McNinja managed to get Ronald to back off and withdraw the product, although the two men still keep a wary eye on each other. Dr. McNinja's adventures since then tend to defy rational description.

Personality/Motivation: Dr. McNinja is torn between two conflicting motivations. On one hand, he is a man of reason who feels a calling to heal people and be a professional doctor. On the other hand, he wants to be Batman. This combines with the fact that he is something of a "weirdness magnet", and so he often gets into extremely absurd conflicts. Frequently he deals with these with a certain exasperation, and almost as frequently he goes whole hog and kicks ass with katana flashing.

Quote: "Why is it that every time a new patient comes in, they can't look past the fact that Judy's a gorilla, and I'm a ninja? Can't you see we're people too? Well, except for Judy. She's a gorilla."

Powers/Tactics: Dr. McNinja is technically a trained human whose powers stem from his martial arts abilities, although he apparently possesses enough raw strength to lift and throw a vending machine. Also, Dr. McNinja is a doctor. This means, among other things, that he can rationalize major injuries as "flesh wounds" with his knowledge of anatomy, similar to how the engineers in Star Trek can use technobabble to bring the starship back from otherwise critical damage.

Appearance: Dr. McNinja is a fair-complected Caucasian who always wears the formal clothing of a general practitioner, including lab coat and stethoscope, except that he also always wears a one-piece Ninja hood that covers his entire face except for the space around his eyes and eyebrows.
