Background (brief): Ayaka Kisaragi is the latest in a long line of 'Ghostsweepers', those who deal with arcane and mystic problems. Because of a lack of innate powers, she employs various mystic gadgets and tricks, most notably the Red Dragon Spirit Capture Star Sword (Ko-Ryu-Rei-Fu-Sei-Ken). Although she appears lazy and sometimes incompetent, the truth is that when she tries, she is quite able to solve any case, and defend against any evil. She is smart enough to know that she can't do everything herself. Yuugen Kaisha is a collection of people with abilities, some strange, some mundane, that help her in her work. For all her mystical acumen, though, she clearly lacks business sense, throwing her money into shopping and, most often, nights spent at karaoke bars, singing and drinking. Reigning her in (sorta) is Mamoru, her faithful business manager of sorts, and Mr. Karino, a scrungy detective who manages to find his way into trouble, as well as Nanami, a teenaged pyrokinetic, and other mediums and monks.

Powers/Tactics: Ayaka is usually rather direct in combat; she leaps around, using her Spirit Sword as her main weapon; she is rather skilled with it, able to fend of multiple opponents. The sword itself contains some surprises as well, including the ability to create a force-wall, and the ability to extend itself to nearly 3 times its original length. Ayaka also carries various wards (presumably, Entangles and Energy Blasts and the like modified accordingly), and her earrings are actually light-producing explosives used to blind or scare her opponents.

Author's Notes: I've represented the sword as a 3d6 HKA—however, an alternative is that it is only that powerful versus the supernatural, in which case you can set that up as a limitation on the sword (only does up to X damage versus humans/living things). If she's constantly being beaten to the punch/getting hit, upping her DCV with a few skill levels would be consistent with the character's conception.
